5 things to know about the new Nest Aware

Nest Aware Coupled with the Google Assistant and Home Mini, Nest Security cameras are an ideal way to keep an eye on your home or business. With the recent release of NestAware (previously known as NestCam IQ), however, there’s a whole new set of features available to you as well. In this blog post we’ll go over everything you need to know about how this works and why it’s useful.

NestAware is a smart home security feature.

Nest Aware is a smart home security feature that allows you to record footage of your home and share that information with family, friends, or law enforcement. It’s not required to use other Nestproducts like the Nestcam or Google Home—you can get started without paying any money at all. But if you do have it installed on your account, it will offer more features than the basic security camera plan included in most subscriptions.

Nest Aware is available as part of two subscription plans: $3 per month for 24/7 recording and live viewing; or $5 per month for 15-minute rolling videos (like what’s available through Google Photos). There are no long-term contracts here—you’re free to cancel at any time!

The Nest app displays your Nest camera footage.

The Nest app displays your camera footage. If you have a Nestcamera installed in your home, the app will show you recent activity from that camera on a map. You can also see footage from multiple cameras at once and zoom in on it using the pinch-to-zoom function that’s built into most modern smartphones.

You can set up alerts for specific events (like when someone enters or leaves a room), as well as set up schedules for when you want your camera to record—so if there are no people around but there is activity going on somewhere in their house, maybe they would like their security system to go off automatically every night at midnight?

All Nest Cams are compatible with Google Home.

You can use Nestwith Google Home by enabling the connection in the Google Home app. Then, you’ll be able to control your thermostat from anywhere using voice commands.

To set up Nestwith Google Home:

  • Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet and tap on “Devices.”
  • Select “Nest” from the sidebar at left of screen, then click Connected Devices under Devices > Your devices (if it isn’t listed yet). You should see a list of all connected devices now; scroll down until you find Nest and select it. Once selected, follow these steps to connect your thermostat:

There’s an option to store your data on the cloud.

Nest Aware is a smart home security feature that allows you to view your cameras’ footage on the Nest app. It’s also compatible with Google Home, which means you can ask it for help when reviewing footage.

  • The Nestapp displays your Nestcamera footage. You can review it by tapping the camera icon located in the upper right corner of any screen and then tapping “Review.” Your camera willhighlighted so that you can see what’s happening at that time of day or night in real time (or as soon as possible).
  • All Nest Cams are compatible with Google Home: If you have an older version of a Nest Cam or if someone has access to one of their devices while they’re trying to break into yours, they won’t be able to take advantage of this feature because only newer versions will work with Google Assistant functionality.* There’s an option to store your data on cloud storage services like Amazon S3 or Dropbox Pro.*

nest aware multiple cameras

NestAware is a new feature that lets you manage multiple cameras through the Nestapp. You can use up to 10 cameras on one account, but they must all be addthrough the same channel (i.e., not via individual camera accounts).

When adding new cameras, you’ll have an option for “Nest Aware multiple camera,” which will take you into a separate screen where you can choose from any number of existing Nest Aware-enabled products or devices (e.g., Dropcam Pro Cameras) that work with your smart thermostat and/or smoke detector.

You can add as many additional cameras as need—but remember: the more you add, the more data is store locally on those devices themselves, so if there’s ever a power outage or other problem with one of them then all those saved clips go off into oblivion!

nest aware camera limit

Nest Aware offers a number of features for your cameras, but there’s one restriction: you can only have one camera per account. If you want to add more cameras to your account, Nest Aware will ask if it should upgrade or downgrade the current camera.

If this sounds limiting, rest assured that the limitations aren’t permanent—they’re just temporary until later this year when Nest Aware 2.0 rolls out with additional features like facial recognition and automatic motion detection (which are not available yet).

Conclusion

Nestaware is a company that really cares about its users. It’s been around for a long time and has always had an impressive track record of making both hardware and software better in every way possible. Whether you’re looking for a new camera or just want to try out the new smart home features, the NestAware feature is definitely worth checking out!
